2023 Ford Bronco Sport Overview

The 2023 Ford Bronco Sport is perfect for those with city commutes during the week and off-the-grid weekend activities. It’s compact and maneuverable, making it great for outdoor adventures. The cabin is thoughtfully designed, providing ample space for all your gear. Plus, it has all-terrain capability, making it perfect for off-roading. The standard turbocharged three-cylinder engine and all-wheel drive make it easy to navigate any terrain. Opt for the Badlands trim and get more aggressive all-terrain tires, a more powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a lifted suspension, and an enhanced all-wheel drive system. With these features, the Bronco Sport can handle any obstacle, competing with the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk.

What’s New On The 2023 Ford Bronco Sport?

Ford has introduced two new special edition trims for the 2023 Bronco Sport lineup: The Heritage Edition and the Heritage Limited Edition. Both models offer vintage Bronco styling with pastel exterior colors and white-painted trim pieces for a 1960s feel. The Heritage Edition is based on the mid-range Big Bend trim level, while the Heritage Limited uses the loaded Badlands model as its basis. The Heritage Limited comes with more off-roading gear, like 29-inch all-terrain tires, and a more robust all-wheel drive system. Additionally, Ford has added a Black Diamond Off-Road package for the Bronco Sport Big Bend and Outer Banks, which includes steel bash plates, exclusive 17-inch gray wheels, and hood and bodyside graphics.

What Are The Packages And Prices Of The 2023 Ford Bronco Sport?

Base – $30,810
Big Bend – $32,825
Heritage Edition – $34,995
Outer Banks – $37,210
Badlands – $39,685
Heritage Limited Edition – $46,250

The Badlands model is a higher price point, but it’s worth it for off-road enthusiasts. It boasts a powerful 245-hp turbo-four engine, the strongest of the two available options. The all-wheel-drive system is enhanced, and the suspension is lifted with upgraded dampers, making it ideal for rugged terrain.

2023 Ford Bronco Sport Engine, Transmission, And Performance Review

The Bronco Sport has all-wheel drive and rides on the same platform as the compact Escape crossover. The base engine is a 181-hp, turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder, but a 245-hp turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder is also available. Both engines come with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Bronco Sport can tow between 2000 and 2200 pounds. The top-tier Badlands trim level has exclusive equipment, including a twin-clutch rear-drive unit with a differential lock, all-terrain tires on 17-inch wheels, a 1.0-inch suspension lift for added ground clearance, and stouter shock absorbers. We tested the Badlands trim and found that it has a hefty steering and firm ride that made it feel truck-like, but not particularly smooth and steady on the highway. Its off-road abilities exceeded expectations, but it still has limitations before attempting difficult trails like the Rubicon Trail.

2023 Ford Bronco Sport Fuel Economy And Real-World MPG

The Bronco Sport has two engine options: a three-cylinder and a four-cylinder. The three-cylinder gets 25 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, while the four-cylinder drops to 21 mpg city and 26 highway. We tested the three-cylinder on our 75-mph fuel-economy route and it got an impressive 33 mpg highway. For more information on fuel economy, check out the EPA’s website.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo Space On The 2023 Ford Bronco Sport

The Bronco Sport has an attractive design and popular features. It has ample space and innovative features. The seating position is upright and there’s a decent amount of rear-seat legroom. The roofline rises in the rear, providing additional headroom and cargo volume for two mountain bikes. The cargo hold can be outfitted with a slide-out table, a 400-watt power inverter, and LED lights in the rear gate. The Badlands model has washable, rubberized flooring and easy-to-clean upholstery. However, the floor material looks unsightly. The rear seats have a storage bin underneath.

Bronco Sport Technology And Entertainment Features

The Bronco Sport comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen that supports Ford’s Sync 3 software. It includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard features but can be upgraded with SiriusXM satellite radio and a B&O audio system. The infotainment interface offers touch-sensitive controls, voice commands, hard buttons, and a volume and tuning knob for easy operation. Overall, the Bronco Sport’s infotainment system is user-friendly and versatile.
